Introduction

CCRR's programs follow two main tracks. On the first track, CCRR works within the Palestinian community where Israeli occupation puts an enormous pressure on society as a whole as well as every individual Palestinian. What will happen to a people in the long run, who are permanently exposed to the cynical logic of conflict escalation? How can we teach our children the values of respect and forgiveness when we are surrounded by turmoil? Violence poisons the Palestinian society. Believing in non-violence, CCRR programs offer an alternative: The Center seeks to empower     to better deal with each other. CCRR strengthens the notion of democracy and mutual understanding within the Palestinian community by introducing, and training individuals and organizations in the areas of Conflict Transformation, Mediation, Communication Training, Peace- and Democracy Building and Human Rights.

CCRR focuses on education for non-violence and teaches different approaches to Conflict Transformation. The Center promotes skills such as mutual respect or communication skills needed to improve relationships between individuals on the one hand as well as between authorities and the public on the other hand. The programs include local and regional projects in order to address regional conflicts at a community and professional level, thereby preparing the ground for sustainable internal and external peace initiatives within the framework of equality, justice and peace. Because Palestine is a very young society, CCRR focuses predominantly on the educational sector (teachers, students, advisors and parents) and their relations with each other. Further target groups for CCRR-workshops are government officials (e.g. security personnel) and non-governmental organizations (e.g. students’ leaders, youth or women's groups).

On the second track, CCRR attempts to tackle the violence in the region through programs that bring peace loving Palestinians and Israelis together. Direct encounters between Palestinians and Israelis are a thorny field, the discussions full of twists and turns. The often strong imbalance of power between peace willing Palestinians and peace willing Israelis makes already problematic discussions even more difficult. Moreover, in a society suffering from violence many people stick to the belief that non-violence is counterproductive to the struggle for Palestinian self-determination.....
