Negotiating Our Future                                      Funded by the EU

Joint project between CCRR and school for peace

Specific Objectives:

·         To provide participants with an opportunity to experience the dynamics of negotiations and to examine together the psychological, cultural, political and technical aspects that obstruct or advance agreements.  This includes a look at the different tactics of each national group, the importance of the settings, of the location, and the importance of equality in conducting negotiations.

·         To gain insight into the obstacles of negotiations and create tools that can help overcome them.

To publicize a document summarizing the experiences, thoughts, analysis and recommendations that come out of this process in order to contribute to a broader understanding of the needs and traps of Palestinian – Israeli negotiations.

The main activity:

The program will be conducted in 3 rounds of Negotiations:

The participants will divide into six committees of ten participants (five Israelis and five Palestinians).  Each committee will conduct negotiations on one of the six topics chosen by the management team.  The management team will be responsible for the process.  The staff will be present and help the process develop.  This will be a five-day meeting conducted abroad for each meeting.

Both CCRR and SFP see this program as a natural development of their “crossing border” work.  We recognized the above needs in our previous projects, and we think that people are ready for “real life” propositions.  We also recognize the absence of knowledge and new methodology regarding negotiations of the possible solutions.
